We counted 78 new US sales roles from 34 companies, 7 fewer than last week and the second drop in a row. CS rose to 17% of new postings, though Veeva alone posted 6 of those. With 59% of open roles posted 45+ days ago, put your time on the fresh ones.

This week's read

New postings have dropped again, from 95 to 85 to 78 across our three editions. We tracked more boards this week, 154 against 149, so the slide does not come from watching fewer companies. Per 100 boards, new roles went from 57 to 51. Our read: there is less fresh inventory each week, so there is less room to be late on any one posting.

CS moved the most, up to 17% of new roles from 9%. Veeva posted 6 of the 13 CS openings, so that jump leans on one company. AE slipped to 54% and still leads. Toast posted 11 of those AE roles, after 18 total last week. Take Toast out and AE still outnumbers every other category. SE held at 19%. SDR stayed thin at 5 postings.

Titles point up-market. Enterprise appeared in 19 new titles and strategic in 11, against 2 for SMB. Of the 1090 open roles we see, 644 were posted 45+ days ago. That is 59% of everything open, up from 57% last week, so most of what a job board search turns up is old. Sort by date and ignore the rest.

Account Executive

42 new AE roles went up, more than any other group. Toast posted 11 and Databricks 6. Abnormal Security, Stripe, Plaid, 1Password and Sysdig added 2 or 3 each. Benchling and Contentful both posted Enterprise Account Executive seats on Oct 14 and Oct 13.

Customer success & account management

13 new CS and account management roles, and Veeva posted 6 of them. The rest are one each at Contentful, Gusto, Culture Amp, 1Password, Cyberhaven, Ramp and Metriport. Gusto's Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager role in Denver went up Oct 13.

Solutions & sales engineering

15 new SE roles, holding at 19% of the mix for a second week. Braze posted 4 and EliseAI 2. Grafana Labs and Twilio both posted senior remote SE roles, and Samsara added an Enterprise Sales Engineer for the US Southeast.

SDR / BDR (entry level)

Only 5 SDR and BDR roles went up, one each at UpGuard, Stripe, Culture Amp, Komodo Health and OpenRouter. That is too few to call a trend in either direction. UpGuard's SDR seat in Los Angeles went up Oct 13.

Who's hiring

Toast led again with 11 new roles, all AE, after 18 last week. Databricks was next with 7, 6 of them AE. Veeva posted 6, all CS, and Braze posted 4, all SE, so both are hiring in one lane this week. Stripe spread 5 roles across AE, SE and SDR. Contentful added 3, split between AE and CS, and was a top hirer last week too.

What to do this week

  1. Apply to Veeva's CS openings and message the leader those roles report to the same day if you work in CS or account management. Veeva posted 6 of the 13 new CS roles this week.
  2. Skip anything posted 45+ days ago unless you already have a way in. That covers 644 of the open roles. In our view your hours go further on the Oct 13 and Oct 14 postings in our dozen.
  3. Apply to Toast's bilingual Strategic Cuisines AE seat in East Houston within 48 hours if you sell in Spanish. Toast posted 11 AE roles this week, more than any other company.
  4. Apply to UpGuard's SDR role in Los Angeles now if you are breaking in. With only 5 SDR postings this week, add associate SE titles to your search, like the Associate Solutions Engineer role in our sample.
